SIMONE POIRIER
Simone
Poirier had been breeding the Sacred Cat of Burma from the early
1950's she had been introduced to Mme Boyer famous for her De Kaabaa
cattery which was in existence before the war. Simone's
knowledge of the history Birman is what brought her to the attention of Gisele Barnay.
GISELE BARNAY
Gisele Barnay was a well known author of
animal books and Chief Editor of La Vie Betes (The Life of Animals) Gisele
Barnay had interviewed Simone Poirier and it was during this interview
that these two expert ladies had the idea to write a book together. The outcome
15 years later was the book Les Secrets du Chat Sacre de Birmanie.
ALWYN HILL
EDITOR OF THE ENGLISH EDITION
Much later Alwyn Hill was given a translation
of the original book, which had been out of print for many years, for a
Christmas present. Alwyn has been breeding Birmans for over 10 years and is an
avid collector of books about the breed; to her this book was a revelation. She set
out to arrange for the book to be re printed this time in English. It has taken
over four years to trace and get permissions to publish this book once again.
Thanks to the internet Alwyn has managed to track down many more photographs of
cats named in the book than were available in the original.
